Enjoyed the day staying @ home the whole day. Picked up Dona at the airport earlier tonight and she'll be here for about 10 days before returning back to Jakarta.

Slowing Down

Yesterday's been a good day where I've got to spend the day less stressful than previous days. Anyway, waiting for Dona to come back from Jakarta on Saturday afternoon. She went home on Sunday because her dad was having a surgery. Expecting another busy week as me & Dona will start to arrange our wedding preparation.

Fun Game

Home Sweet Home Again

I've adjusted back to Indonesian condition now. I'm trying to speak a lot less English (ie. trying to say sorry in Indonesian rather than in English). Anyway, it's been a full day again & I'd expect no less for tomorrow. I'm assuming the week will be full as well.

Super Full Day

I went out with my mum today to take care some of the wedding preparation stuffs. Drove all over the city with max. speed of 40km/h (this is the normal speed in Surabaya since it's jam-packed with cars, motorcycles and people!)

Anyway, I enjoyed the day and found a few new things or places since my last visit 1 year and 4 months ago...

Accident

Just came back from hospital. A close family of mine (to simplify things, say she's my aunty) was hit by a motorcycle as she was crossing the road. Received 12 stiches on her forehead and suffered broken right arm. Might require an extensive operation to fix her right arm, but her old age (about 60-65 y.o.) presents a risky and dangerous condition.

Full story:
It was 8pm. She had looked both ways and started to cross the street using a street light to prevent her from getting hit. However, a motorcycle either without its light turned on or broken lights (ie. both are very common here in Indonesia) came out of nowhere. The driver had seen my aunty as she started to cross the street and tried to brake hard without success.

The driver was held by the people around the scene and was released because my aunty forgave him. The driver wanted to pay for the medical expenses but my aunty only asked that he cover the charges for the transport to my house (ie. equal to about AUD$1).

I wonder whether the driver knows that my aunty's medical expenses can actually cost at least AUD$1,500 if she has to undergo an operation (excluding hospital treatments). Emergency Room (ER) treatment & x-ray scan cost AUD$50 plus hospital room @ AUD$50 per day.

By the way, there's not much effect for a health insurance like the ones in Australia since it's still much cheaper to pay the medical expenses at the point of need rather than paying for an insurance policy.

Surabaya - Indonesia

I'm back home in Surabaya, second largest capital city in Indonesia after Jakarta. Arrived Saturday afternoon; 5 hours flight from Perth to Singapore (1am-6am) & Singapore to Surabaya (11am-1pm).

Local time is GMT +7 (ie. Perth GMT +8).
Weather: 30C, very hot & humid.

Getting things done for the last time before leaving early tomorrow morning & will be having lunch with some friends today. So, there's nothing like last-minute pressure to get me going even more.

Movies - Star Wars III

Just came back from watching Star Wars III this morning. Me & Dona got away with only half of the cinema full since it was morning & working days, so we enjoyed the experience & the movie. The La Premiere section (where you get extra service and better seats but double the regular ticket price) is full from about 4pm 'til about midnight.

I won't tell you the whole story 'cause it might spoil the anticipation for some of you who haven't seen it yet, but I can tell you that it's definitely better than SW I & II (both the action scenes and the storyline). The movie also gives a bridge for episode IV (produced back in 1977).

Interesting to see the journey of Anakin Skywalker from a troubled Jedi to a fearsome and powerful Darth Vader; how his decision affects the whole galaxy and his fellow Jedi friends & masters. Two thumbs up for everyone who played in the movie quite well.

Star Wars III

Will try to watch Star Wars III tomorrow before I go back home this Saturday. Otherwise, I'd have to be content with waiting and waiting... for the dvd.

Assess Yourself

Got the following link from Hendra, one of the pastor at Riverview Church. A great tool to help you assess yourself. [link]

Wild Weather - Tornado!

Southern part of Western Australia, including Perth, was hit by multiple tornadoes on early Monday morning that caused heavy damages to properties and trees to fall on the street, causing traffic jam. I've never experienced something like that before in my life. Definitely a scary experience that I'd prefer not to go through again.

Spent the day helping Dona moving her things out of her rental house. Definitely need some timeout to re-energise & back again tomorrow to finalise the whole thing (ie. last minute check, cleaning, etc.). So, better go to bed now...

The Bloke

Tonight, Riverview will be having an event just for men called The Bloke. This is the first event for men as the ladies have already started their own ladies-only event called Her Time a few years ago. See how it goes tonight...

The Simpsons

I've been a fan of The Simpsons and has been watching the new series on channel 10. However, I noticed for the past few weeks that the stories is no longer as good as previous seasons. Is it me or The Simpsons is really getting boring?

Jeans

Had a plan to buy a pair of jeans a month ago and I put it off until today because of the price (one for $59.95 or two for $109 @ Jeans West). I had a wish that if only the price is $99 instead of $109.

Guess what? When I went into the store to buy them this afternoon, I found out that the price has dropped (two for $99) starting today - that's regular price, not discount price!

3 Weeks To Go

I'll be going home in 3 weeks to prepare my wedding in September. Lots of things to do with not so much time.
